We had Krista Lord join us on our latest podcast (FW003) to discuss the dangerous ingredients of some sports drinks (see this article to learn more). And, we discussed a possible alternative – Orange-Aid. This is the recipe our 13-year old son came up with. He is very active in football and loves this drink. He’s also picky about what he drinks and eats – so, rest assured, if you make this for your kids, they will probably love it. Put it in an old Gatorade or Powerade bottle and they probably will be even more attracted to it!
5 Cutie Oranges (juiced in a Breville Juicer recommended)
4 Packets of Stevia (2 teaspoons)
Coconut Water (8 oz optional)
Water (about 2 quarts)
Juice oranges, and pour into a 2 quart pitcher. Add stevia, and coconut water/water to the 2 quart line.
